I'm starting a new thread for a couple of reason. For one, my initial post about problems with the Garmin 1000NXI was wrong. Secondly, even when I pointed out what the problem is, I have not received a response addressing the issue. What is the issue? There is a problem with Sim EFB interfering with underlying aircraft controls while in VR. I first noticed the problem the very first time I used the program, which surprises me that no one else has run into it. When using Sim EFB in VR while flying a DA62, I was unable to interact with the Nav and Com controls. I could not change frequencies or switch frequencies. I thought the problem was related to MOD incompatibilities. After subsequent testing, I realized that the problem is directly related to Sim EFB and its interaction with the menu system in VR.
How can I be so sure of this? Because I tested the program with other aircraft. If you fly a DA40 in VR, you will notice that you will be unable to interact with the light switches. The Garmin 1000NXI works fine because it is far enough away from the VR menu. The light switches, however, are in the region below the VR menu that interferes with your ability to interact with whatever flight controls are in that region. On the DA62 it's the Com and Nav functions. On the DA40 it's the light switches. If you remove the VR menu, the problem goes away.
I'm not trying to disparage the program. I really want this program to do well. It offers the perfect solution to accessing charts, check lists, and maps while in VR. This is problem is easy to replicate. Why not address it?
